Words are almost never used for the Wedding March|Here Comes The Bride|Bridal Chorus music. However, in the opera Lohengrin, from which Wagner gives us this bridal processional classic, the bridal party sings it to Elsa, the heroine, after the wedding ceremony and on her way to the bridal chamber. These are the final lyrics to be sung in the opera, though tinged with irony:

Faithfully guarded, remain behind
where the blessing of love shall preserve you...
Triumphant courage, love and happiness
join you in faith as the happiest of couples.

*If you listen closely to children playing, you might chance upon a young lady singing "Here comes the bride, dressed all in white" as she fantasizes about her own wedding day walk down the aisle. But as to where the "here comes the bride" lyric originated is anyone's guess.
