All Creatures Of Our God And King was written by St. Francis of Assissi, possibly in 1224, while he was quite ill. Tradition holds it may have first been sung by he and his brothers while St. Francis was on his deathbed. There have been many translations and variations on his hymn; perhaps the most common is a paraphrase by Francis Draper, who set his lyrics to a German hymn tune.
