Simple Gifts ('Tis The Gift To Be Simple...) - This is an upbeat version of "Simple Gifts", the old Shaker song. Though it is sometimes rendered as a slower, thoughtful tune, originally it was indeed a dance number, and the reference to turning is most likely a movement in the dance. Aaron Copland famously borrowed the tune for "Appalachian Spring." Elder Joseph Brackett composed the song in 1848.
