about

WEDDING MARCH ORGAN (Here Comes The Bride|Bridal March|Bridal Chorus) is from the opera Lohengrin; in the opera this is not a bridal entrance song. The bridal party sings it the heroine Elsa after the ceremony has been completed and she is making her way to the bridal suite. There is some serious irony at play as things don't work out so well for Elsa and her new husband Lohengrin, but this minor glitch doesn't affect the widespread fondness this famous bridal processional has seen over the last 100 years or more.

Probably due largely to the constraints of the available instrumentation, the Wedding March has been traditionally most often performed on either pipe organ (church organ) or piano. In the last few decades couples have felt the freedom to be more creative with their approach to wedding music, and as such there have arisen an almost unlimited variety of arrangements of this classic bridal processional for use in wedding ceremonies. Partly to this end, we have created our own album of more than 20 arrangements to fit your personal style and specific wedding ceremony needs, and there are more to come in the near future, at least in our planning.

lyrics

There are no lyrics used in the present day for the Wedding March. But many creative young ladies have devised their own lyrics as they fantasize about their own perfect wedding day.

Here is a translation of the lyrics from the opera, according to Wikipedia:

Faithfully guided, draw near
to where the blessing of love shall preserve you
Triumphant courage, the reward of love
joins you in faith as the happiest of couples
Champion of virtue, proceed
Jewel of youth, proceed
Flee now the splendour of the wedding feast
may the delights of the heart be yours

This sweet-smelling room, decked for love
now takes you in, away from the splendour
Faithfully guided, draw now near
to where the blessing of love shall preserve you
Triumphant courage, love so pure
joins you in faith as the happiest of couples
